She knew that Beti wasn't that much younger than her, but she still felt such a strong maternal urge sitting there with her. She wanted to solve all of Beti's problems, make it all better. Maybe it was because she was so desperate to be able to do that for Caspian, to properly be his mother again, and so she would push that desire onto anyone who might accept it.
"Do you mean you're the only person she has? Is she someone who lives nearby? If she's not, maybe she could have lost her phone?" She gave Beti's arm a squeeze. "Tell me if I'm trying to offer solutions you don't need. I just know that sometimes things seem hopeless, but there's hope we haven't seen yet."
