Melpomene didn't believe in happy endings. Thalia had mostly learned to laugh off her fatalistic notions, because when you were laughing it was almost impossible to be afraid. She wasn't laughing now.
She drew her arm closer around her sister and rested her cheek against Melpomene's curls. "This isn't the ending, Mels. It's... bad and it's scary and horrible, but it's not the end. Apollo's out there right now, he's gonna find Telos and bring him back. You've got his whole life to look forward to still."
