This time when the waitress came over, Apollo didn't look at her at all. His eyes never left Marcie's face, watching the horror sinking in deep.
"Y'want some bagel?" Much asked him, unexpectedly, and Apollo glanced at him briefly. "Go on, take a bite." The words were spoken both like a threat and a private joke, and Apollo dropped his eyes to the bagel for a second, not getting it.
Weird little man, he thought, narrowing his eyes at Much. Very weird.
But it did seem like Ares was right; Marcie didn't know where Kaden was. The boy, and the baby, really were far. Apollo drummed his fingers against the table for a moment, and then rose. "Alright," he said. "I don't think you're hiding anything. Yet. Maybe I'll see you in a couple of days. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe tonight." Apollo smiled, brightly. "Or maybe you message me when Kaden calls you and I won't have to visit you at all. How's that sound, beautiful?"
