Billie was a month away from her due date and boy was she feeling it. As she walked up the pavement to the front door, she pressed the heel of her hand against her hip where it ached. Soon, soon, she promised herself. She might go swimming later, take the weight off for a while.
David answered the door and gave Billie a friendly smile. "Hello again, Billie, wasn't it? Oh, that bag looks heavy, let me- Can I bring you down some tea?"
"A lemon herbal would be lovely," Billie replied, relinquishing the bag she was carrying and heading for the stairs, holding tightly to the bannister and descending slowly.
"Sure. I'll bring some shortbread too. Aderyn, honey! You have a visitor! Do you want a drink of anything?" he asked, popping down the stairs and setting down the bag by the side of the bed. Billie smiled and gave a small wave as she got to the bottom of the stairs.
"Hi there! I have those books. Sorry it's taken me a while to get here with them, how are you today?" she asked cheerfully, heading towards the nearest chair to lower herself down.
