You'll die first. First. Kaden made a panicked squeak of fear that turned into a firm but closed-mouth "uh uh". No way he could go home, that'd be a death sentence, then Lil T would be all alone for real, no one looking out for him.
Here was a memory: Kaden stretched out on the couch with a bowl of cereal on his chest and his feet pressed up hard against Tragos, trying to make him uncomfortable as possible, Tragos being stoic and annoyed, trying to look all threatening. Kaden had tried to kick him in the head and Tragos grabbed his leg and flipped him right off the couch, milk and cereal everywhere, Kaden with his head and shoulders on the floor and ankle in Tragos grip and laughing so hard about it all he nearly threw up the cereal he'd eaten.
It wasn't even a significant memory like seeing Tragos for the first time again after he got out of juvie after Kaden had been all alone for months, it was just a standard morning before Tragos started being at the gym every hour of every day. Kaden couldn't stop thinking about it. About laughing harder than he was ever gonna laugh again.
He remembered leaning against the fridge at breakfast while he ate a giant slice of floppy pizza and Tragos ate some boiled chicken, Kaden shaking his head and going 'Dude, you're wasting your life' and licking pizza grease off his hand like a smug bastard.
He remembered the nod that Tragos had given him, immediately after passing him the baby. The nod like everything was going to plan and he was going to see him in a couple of hours.
Kaden burst into tears against the steering wheel.
