"Marian!" Arthur's face lit up when she called out to him. He was sat at the bar, trying to get to the bottom of a very ritzy box of sweets that one of the lads had left for him. The jellybeans Arthur remembered had straightforward flavours like Red and Yellow and Pink, no explanation necessary. Not so these jellybeans, which came with their own user's manual: an illustrated list of fifty different flavours with names like Island Punch and Birthday Cake and Blueberry Muffin, plus a second list of jellybean pairings to make even more flavours. It was all very curious, so much so that it had distracted him entirely from his intended task of patrolling the perimeter and now sat perusing the menu, with brightly-coloured sweets scattered across the bar top. He selected one and offered it out to Marian. "Jellybean? I think it's strawberry cheesecake." He squinted at the list of flavours. "Or lychee. Could be lychee. Cor, sweets have got complicated."
