"Heh," Kaden said, scrambling for a joke instead of succumbing to stupid feelings when she pulled back. "In front of Tragos? Knew you couldn't resist me." His cheek burned, but warm, more like a cosy fire in winter than a brand. He looked up as he caught sight of movement - Tragos closing the bathroom door behind him, and Kaden smiled half heartedly at Marcie and said "he's just jealous cos you like me better."
Marcie sucked her top lip into her mouth and nodded. “Must be it,” she said, clearing her throat lightly. She’d left a smudge of lipstick on Kaden’s cheek, so she licked her thumb and rubbed at it. She could feel a slight rasp of stubble on his jaw, and for some reason that amused her. Boy becoming man already.
“You’ll still message me, right?” she asked, sitting back on the sofa. “Do you know where you’re going?”
Kaden took a perch on the arm of the sofa, looking down at her from this extra high position. “We’re going to stay on the move for a while,” he said, picking up a strand of her hair and putting it back down on the other side of her head. “I have to get a new phone that’s not connected to me at all, but I’ve memorised your number. So. Yeah. Yeah. Gonna message you."
