Luna had turned as well, because Peitho’s voice was still everything to her. She tried to squash down the feeling that she’d just failed this kid, that his life was about to change forever and that she hadn’t stopped that.
(Just like she’d turned her back every other time before this.)
Peitho was smiling, beautiful and open and everything anyone could ever desire, and Luna approached just behind Kaden.
“I’m glad you’ve already met Luna,” she told Kaden, reaching out to put her hand on his cheek and then the other on Luna’s. “I want the two of you to become very close.”
Luna frowned a little, because this was not what she had expected. Become close? As in… over time?
