Who: Quetzalcoatl, Elena Torres, Amidio and Nina Maynard Where: The Temple When: Friday afternoon What: Hey there, kids.
Quetzalcoatl certainly enjoyed his job as a professor, but he had to admit that it was a rather time consuming portion of his double life. He hadn't been able to find the time to get to the Temple and talk with the two children that Huitzilopochtli said were demi-gods. But midterms had ended (for his class, anyway), and he finally had enough time to haul some of his notes to the Temple. He'd put together a list of Aztecs that he figured were still alive and well enough to have reproduced in the last 20 years, so he hoped that would help narrow their parentage down a bit.
He smiled at Elena as he walked into the Temple. "Afternoon, Elena."
"Hello, my Lord," Elena said with a smile. "You look like you're in a good mood."
"I don't have to grade midterms anymore, I'm in an excellent mood," Quetzalcoatl said with a laugh. "Are the twins here?"
"They are." Elena turned and called down the hall, "Nina, Amidio, there's someone here to see you!"

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-11 09:10 pm UTC (link) Track This The Temple still creeped him out, but it was better then their shitty apartment or the club. He still wanted to talk to Nina, wanted to see if she was still angry or just how she felt. He felt like they'd barely talked since this entire disaster that was their life.
When Elena called for them he set his hands in his pockets and walked out to where Elena and the stranger were. "'Sup?"

[info]featheredscales 2011-03-11 09:35 pm UTC (link) Track This "Amidio, this is Quetzalcoatl," Elena said. "He's one of the gods, he's hoping to--my Lord?"
Elena had turned to find Quetzalcoatl staring wide-eyed at Amidio, hands curling into fists and eyes turning red. She had enough time to think Well, shit, this is going badly, before Quetzalcoatl pushed past her and crowded Amidio back against the wall.
Quetzalcoatl had recognized something in Amidio the minute the boy had walked into the room. It was fleeting, shifting and quick, but he would recognize it anywhere. He'd spent most of his long, long life learning how to recognize it in all its myriad forms. Tezcatlipoca.
He pushed the boy back against the wall, tongue going snakelike and slitted, flicking out to taste the air. After a few seconds, he was reassured that this wasn't actually Tezcatlipoca in disguise. Just someone bearing the distinct tang of his blood.

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-11 09:48 pm UTC (link) Track This Amidio hadn't really liked this guy when he'd looked at him. Not too unnatural as Amidio didn't like a lot of people, but something he just filed away under 'weird shit of the day'.
Then he was suddenly against a wall, with a dude with a snake tongue all over him. "Hey, get the fuck off me man." He pushed against this thing almost glad Nina hadn't come to check things out yet. He'd much rather have to deal with weird shit himself.
He managed to wrestle away from the crazy dude with the red eyes, making himself remember the last time he'd ran to a thing like this. He'd been on the ground in seconds. "What the actual fuck."
He looked to Elena, "is everyone here some sort of giant freak? I can deal with the glowy bird dude, but I refuse to deal with fucking Voldemort here," he motioned to Quetzalcoatl. "Jesus fuck, honestly."

[info]featheredscales 2011-03-11 09:57 pm UTC (link) Track This Quetzalcoatl was still watching Amidio intently, pupils little more than black slits against the red of his eyes. The pattern of his scales was fading on and off of his skin.
"My Lord?" Elena asked through gritted teeth, which was as close as she was willing to get to her actual question of 'What in the world is wrong with you?' She stepped partially in front of Amidio. She wasn't under any delusions that she could protect the boy if Quetzalcoatl decided to go for his throat, but she hoped that seeing someone human might snap the god out of it.
"His father is Tezcatlipoca," Quetzalcoatl growled out through lengthening fangs.

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-11 10:02 pm UTC (link) Track This "Who?" Why did everyone have these completely unpronounceable names? He stepped back a bit, feeling himself tense. He wouldn't stand a chance, but it'd give Nina one. "Can someone fill me the fuck in? Who is this Tezcatwhatever, and how does it make him our father?"
Lost wasn't a big enough word for how he felt. He was getting a little tired of big revelations. He'd barely had a chance to take it all in.

[info]featheredscales 2011-03-11 10:16 pm UTC (link) Track This Elena felt like the earth had shifted underneath her. Nina and Amidio were Tezcatlipoca's children? She'd had his children with her all this time and not even known it?
"Are you sure?" Elena murmured, but it was mostly rhetorical. Quetzalcoatl had not shown much of a sense of humor when it came to things relating to Tezcatlipoca. She half turned to Amidio and said, "Tezcatlipoca is the god of night, chaos, warfare, beauty..." she swallowed and grabbed her phone. "Oh hell, here's the Wikipedia article."
Elena was more than a little flustered.
"We don't get along," Quetzalcoatl said, taking a few deep breaths and forcing his scales to fade, "for reasons that are completely his fault."

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-11 10:28 pm UTC (link) Track This He took the phone, mostly to glance at the article then anything else. "Nina's going to flip her shit. Not enough we're not huge freaks, now were freaks of a dude that likes chaos."
"Yeah I'm sure." He glanced to Quetzalcoatl, "because assaulting me over something I didn't know about, and freaking me out by turning into Voldemort is completely not your fault right?" Dio was not amused. He handed Elena the phone back, keeping his distance. He didn't want this weirdo to get in his face again.
"I don't know this Tezcatwhatever alright? We were adopted. Whatever your beef is, I'm not involved in it. But if you do what you did to me to my sister I will find a way to put you down, we clear?" Dio was protective over Nina, he didn't want this dude scaring her more then she already was. "Nina's scared enough as is."

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-12 01:55 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Nina had only been around the corner listening for a few moments, just long enough to hear who their father was. She knew the name from looking things up in the books and she'd read a lot about him recently.
It's him, she'd thought as she ran her hands over drawings. He's our father. It was a thought she hadn't shared with anyone but now Quetzalcoatl had confirmed it.
Slowly she stepped out from the doorway, remaining there against the frame because it was close to Amidio. "I'm not scared of him," Nina said, addressing it to her brother but looking at Quetzalcoatl warily. Despite her words something inside her said that Quetzalcoatl was the enemy, that she should destroy him or be destroyed.
"It's not our fault who our father is," Nina said, coming out to stand next to Amidio because they were stronger as a pair. Her voice was firm and she tried to sound like she was as strong as he was, as though they were gods in their own right with nothing to fear. In her pocket Nina wrapped her fingers around the piece of obsidian she'd stolen from from one of altars, wanting it to give her courage. "But don't you dare touch either of us again."

[info]giveusyourheart 2011-03-12 03:58 am UTC (link) Track This Quetzalcoatl took several deep breaths, stepping a few feet away from them and running his hands through his hair. There was a long moment of silence, and then he nodded. "You're right. I'm sorry."
"Would you like a moment to collect yourself, my Lord?" Elena asked. Quetzalcoatl nodded, and that was all the impetus Elena needed. She wrapped an arm around one wrist per twin and pulled them into her office, closing the door firmly behind her.
"Your father was not an evil god," she said without any preamble, going over to the coffeepot and pouring herself a very large cup of coffee. If it was possible to pour coffee viciously, Elena was doing it. "I knew him. He told me the truth about the gods and taught me how to be a priestess and never once mistreated me. Chaos doesn't mean evil, night doesn't mean evil."

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-12 08:28 am UTC (link) Track This When Nina appeared he took a step closer to her, giving her support and to protect her in case the weirdo decided to freak out on them again. He set his arm around her, watching Quetzalcoatl with a wary eye until Elena took them into the office.
When the door closed he glanced to Nina and smiled, "yeah well I get that. Apparently Voldemort out there disagrees. Dude looked ready to snap my frigging neck. So what, storms, beauty, night, warcraft, and what else?" Dio could pay a lot of attention, but people never expected him to so he usually kept it to himself.
"And what exactly is the beef between him and Voldemort out there? 'Cuz if he's planning on taking it out on us, I'd like to know why."

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-12 08:41 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Nina had sat down on the chair against the wall, arms tight over her chest. "Discord, sorcery, temptation," Nina added to her brother's list. "He and Quetzel-him made the world together, right?" Nina asked, looking at Elena questioningly. "Then they smashed it up. They're light and darkness."

[info]giveusyourheart 2011-03-12 07:17 pm UTC (link) Track This "And he was a protector of slaves," Elena added, sitting behind her desk. "He demanded that slaves be treated well, or their masters would have to deal with him."
She ran a hand through her hair. This was a story she loved, a story she knew by heart, and she could at least tell it right, flustered or not. "They were forces of creation and destruction, and they traded roles regularly. The two of them were the ones who created the land. They lured a giant crocodile out of the ocean using Tezcatlipoca's foot as bait. The crocodile snapped off his foot, but they managed to kill her and stretch out her skin to create the ground. Once that was managed, your father became the sun."
Elena took a sip of her coffee and absentmindedly tapped the small, carved figure of a jaguar she had sitting on her desk. "That worked well enough for a while, but Quetzalcoatl became jealous of your father, since being the sun was a very big deal. He knocked your father out of the sky, and the world went dark. In his rage, Tezcatlipoca sent jaguars to eat all of the people.
"Then Quetzalcoatl became the sun. A new race of people was made, and life continued on until Tezcatlipoca got his revenge. He used magic to turn the people into monkeys, and knocked Quetzalcoatl out of the sky. It caused a hurricane that destroyed the world."
"The other gods banned us from being the sun, after that," Quetzalcoatl said, opening the door to Elena's office. He looked completely human, and leaned against the wall next to the snake tank, absentmindedly reaching in to stroke the snake's back. "Not that it kept us out of trouble."

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-12 09:20 pm UTC (link) Track This Dio wanted a smoke when he heard all this. This thing that was his father sounded important and he didn't think he had anything in common with him. He liked to fight, but that was it. Nina had inherited more traits then he it seemed.
Absentmindedly he toyed with his lighter, flicking the lid open and closed. He turned around when he heard Quetzalcoatl, "I thought the dude with the birds was the sun?" He was just a little confused there.
He shook his head and ran his hand through his hair, "Bloody confusing is what is."

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-13 12:42 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Nina had forced herself not to move when the God had entered the room, remaining in her seat with some effort. She wanted to bolt, but instead she remained, cross-armed and cold. "You both sound like assholes to me," she muttered.
This whole situation was all wrong, and it had only been made more confusing and uncomfortable when fucking Mary Magdalene come to see them and thus confirmed that there was a Christian God as well and, yeah, maybe he was pissed off with two little half-Aztec runts. Nina didn't even know anymore. She was getting less afraid as the days went on, but she was also getting more frustrated and angry at the whole thing. She'd even stopped talking so much with her brother, unsure now on what to share and what to hold onto for herself.

[info]featheredscales 2011-03-13 09:35 pm UTC (link) Track This Quetzalcoatl felt enormously more comfortable once he could focus on imparting information. That was part of his duty, his job, and it's familiarity helped ground him.
"There have been five suns, counting the current one," Quetzalcoatl said. "The Aztec idea of gods was a bit less cut and dry than just deities. They thought of us as closer to sentient forces of nature, and so many of us began sharing duties. Huitzilopochtli became the sun that way, because the Mexica loved Huitzilopochtli." Quetzalcoatl smiled a little. "I, ah, actually had some notes on who was who, before I attacked. I am sorry for that, by the way."

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-13 10:53 pm UTC (link) Track This "It's fine I guess." He didn't like the distance Nina had put between them. It all just felt like he was on his own again. He'd always promised to be there for Nina, but now she wouldn't let him. He felt abandoned.
He just sighed, "I honestly don't care." He glanced to Nina, "I know what I am now, and that I got to figure all this out on my own. I'm not my father." He shrugged, "I'll be out for a smoke."

[info]featheredscales 2011-03-14 05:41 pm UTC (link) Track This "He was in the city last year," Quetzalcoatl said, letting the snake slither up his arm. Elena couldn't help but smile a little at watching Nagini and Quetzalcoatl bond.
Once the snake was safely coiled and had its head resting on his shoulder, Quetzalcoatl continued, "He left as abruptly as he came, which is a bad habit of his. I was actually...very pleased to see him. There aren't enough of us in America."

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-15 07:55 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Nina wasn't sure if she actually wanted to meet their father. He probably didn't much want to meet them either, considering they'd been given up without even having the chance to even know him.

[info]featheredscales 2011-03-16 07:30 am UTC (link) Track This "I'm not sure how many Aztecs are still alive," Quetzalcoatl said, running a finger idly along the snake's back. "The Spanish did their best to wipe out most of our worship, and there's quite a culture divide between the United States and Mexico anyway. Not enough, I suppose would be the best answer. As for demigods, you two are the first Aztec ones I've met. As for the other pantheons....dozens. Hundreds, probably."
