"Ah. Yeah." Following Clio back into the kitchen, Will gave another faint wince. Yeah, the two were sort of intertwined just now. Alan had never wanted Melpomene to choose between him and Apollo, but maybe Melpomene didn't see it that way. Maybe that was why she'd tried to bully Clio into that same choice. "It's all or nothing with her, innit?"
She'd accused Clio of not loving Apollo, because Clio wouldn't stand for his hurting people. Like there was anything to be proud of in defending a man's right to cold-blooded murder.
She'd accused Clio of not caring about what the Sheriff had done to Will, because Clio wasn't still baying for the Sheriff's blood now that everyone was safe. She didn't see that what Clio was doing mattered so much more, that it had been Clio who'd rushed to his side in the hospital, who'd insisted on rather than offered to pay for all the medical bills, who'd stayed with him through every nightmare and every fuck-up, who'd offered ideas and solutions to hold their family together. Clio had given him hope for the future, and that mattered far more than pointless revenge.
