"I didn't come over just to scream at you!" Melpomene insisted, Clio's accusation just off-base enough for Melpomene to find some insult in it. "I just want - I want -" Will's silent stare was off-putting, yanking her attention off the end of her own sentence. She stared at them both, panting.
She hadn't come here with any great clarity about what she wanted. She did want Clio to scream back, yes - or at the very least she wanted something out of Clio. Clio's silence since the breakup had been getting to her, digging in like an angry, hurt, resentful splinter. Just like Will's silence was digging into her now, his eyes hiding layers of unspoken thoughts. It shut her up, for a moment; there was so much there.
She could see the opinions he was having about her, somewhere beneath that restraint of his. "Do you have something you want to say to me?" she asked him, trying to dig into that silence. Go on her eyes dared. Say it out loud! Tell me what you think of me!
