Will nodded, taking in Robin's apology with a small tug of the mouth, an almost-smile, faint and guilty. He owed Robin more, he knew he did, but the fear and uncertainty were dammed up so high. Visions of being left behind as an invalid, watching the others gear up for the battle, as he'd watched Robin and Much and Alan pile into the van for Arizona without him. Of being doubted and pitied, of never being looked at with the same rock-solid trust.
Tuck had never looked at him any different. Tuck trusted him more than he trusted himself sometimes. But once he said it, it could never be unsaid, and he couldn't, he couldn't risk it, it couldn't take it if he were wrong and Robin shut him out again, like he'd done before.
"Yeah," he said. "Leastaways we should make sure they're alright. They're our brothers, we gotta look after each other."
