Most of the time Hecuba was very content to be a dog. When she was chasing a ball across a park, or sniffing another dog, or sleeping in front of the fire- it was good to be a dog, and easy to forget that she was no all dog.
But somedays, vocal cords would be advantageous.
So instead of saying I know where Luna is, Hecuba dropped her face down onto her front paws and barked again, before turning around and trotting quickly a little way down the street.
She turned back to look at the girl and sat down, waiting. When that didn't seem to work, Hecuba came back over, turned in three circles with another bark, and then walked back in the same direction she'd gone before.
