Who: Amidio and Nina Maynard. Surprise appearance by Huitzilopochtli
What: The twins are tired of pretending and want hearts.
Where: Some alleyway then probably the temple (of doom)
When: Monday morning
Warnings: Mentions of consensual incest, mentions of heart-nomming, mentions of cannibalism, violence, Aztecs, half Aztecs, probably language, TBD

For most of the past few weeks, Amidio had been feeling twitchy. His need for violence had only been growing and while talking to Nina helped in the way it led to some rather nice moments of sex, it wasn't enough.

He needed the blood he could still taste from all those weeks ago. Nothing he did curbed that feeling. So when Nina contacted him, told him she was tired of fighting this feeling he had all but jumped on the chance. Later, perhaps he'd feel guilty about it all. Now, it was like a second pulse in his veins to feed that craving.

He'd found Nina at the club and let her make the plan. She'd lure, he'd wait and help her bring whomever she got down. Seemed like a decent plan. So he waited in the shadows, watching Nina carefully. He'd rather her not get hurt.

If there was guilt, Nina couldn't let herself feel it tonight. She was so hungry and unlike last time she knew what would make her feel better. There was only one thing and Nina had held out against it for as long as she could. Not any longer. She could fix this later, after she'd killed the craving by killing a stranger. Right now she couldn't think of anything but blood.

She waited against the brick wall, smiling at the men who passed, waiting for one to stop to talk to her. The first one that did showed interest but she found she couldn't do it and told him to fuck off. She knew that Amidio would be displeased she'd let him go but the guilt had jumped out at her.

A second man stopped and Nina refused to fail her brother again. (If she thought of it like that then it was easier. She was doing this for Amidio.)

After a minute or so she smiled at him and took a few steps back into the alley, beckoning for him to follow her.

He'd frowned when Nina had let the first man go, but he knew she had her reasons. He shifted where he stood, trying to be patient. But he was so hungry, and he feared doing something stupid if she didn't pick someone soon.

Not that he'd ever hurt her.

When she beckoned the man to follow her, he told his jealousy to shut it before wrapping his fingers around the knife he'd brought. He waited long enough for Nina to distract the man and for him to give Amidio his back before slipping out from behind the trashcans.

With quick movements he set his arms around the man's neck, ignoring the pleas for mercy and the question of 'what do you want' before cutting his neck open.

The blood sprayed across Nina's face and she gasped in surprise and then almost threw herself at the poor man, latching lips and teeth onto the bleeding gash with a moan of need.

Blood. This was everything. She wanted to rip the cut in his throat right open, devour the flesh, take everything. She couldn't focus on what her brother was doing, just the taste of blood and flesh.

He kept his hands on the man's arms, keeping him still while his life literally bled out of him. He was letting his sister take what she needed, knowing he would get his in return. And he liked watching her.

He did not see nor care to know others watched them, that a man in blue clothing watched with a frown before going to find his God. This was peculiar enough to be told, if only for the fact the kids were hunting in a territory claimed by the Hummingbird god.

Amidio set one hand on his sister's shoulder with a smile before handing her the knife.

Nina took the knife with a suddenly steady hand and met the man's eyes as the light was fading from them. Then she slammed that blade through his chest, feeling it slip between rib bones, her hand slipping down the hilt and cutting her but she didn't care. "Get the heart before he dies," Nina whispered. "Need the heart."

He kept the man steadied, wrapping his own around her wrist to help her remove the needed heart from the man's chest. They'd need to work on this. Out of everything, it was the one thing that ran through his mind.

Then he kneeled down to set the man down so he could help his sister better, unaware of the all too blue eyes watching them. He was only concerned to get what they both needed.

Nina dug her nails into the chest, using the knife as leverage to snap open one of the ribs with a sickly and horrible sound before moving onto the next one. Then she could reach in with her slender wrist and find it.

Nina whimper. "It's still beating."

While Amidio grinned and motioned for her to take a bite, Huitzilopochtli frowned and watched. These two were not completely mortal. They felt familiar. Very faint, even for Gods as faded as them, like looking through a muddy river. Still, a connection.

So he stepped forward, curious about these two. He watched until the boy noticed him and cursed. Whatever had possesed the young man to run at him he'd never know, but it was easy enough to put him on the ground, one knee on one of the boy's wrists, kneeling down and one hand on the back of the boy's neck. "Foolish."

His eyes leveled on the girl, "are you more even tempered girl? And what do you call yourself?" As an outsider he seemed to calm to find two kids eating people. But he was far from normal.

Nina's first thought was cop but it didn't seem quite right, did it? She wasn't going to let this man hurt her brother though and she yanked the knife out of the now-dead man's chest and tightened her grip on it while her other hand refused to let go of the heart she'd only taken a bite into, hot blood dripping down her chin.

"Let him go," Nina growled. "Let him go or I'll cut you up like we did to him."

"Not even tempered then," he almost smiled and glanced to the boy, "and you could try girl. You are outmatched." Yet he rose to let the boy go, rising with remarkable calm. Dio just stared at the man and stumbled to his sister's side.

"No names then. Stubborn." He glanced aside before turning and motioning to a few figures to block off the entrance to the alley. "Privacy."

He pointed to the heart, "finish it before it grows cold. Fresh kills are better." This he knew from decades of experience. "Then, perhaps, you can tell me who you are. You feel familiar, but weak."

Amidio shrugged. He liked to think he was a pretty decent fight, but this guy had put him on the ground with no effort and was now telling them to eat the heart before it got cold.

Huitzilopochtli sighed, wishing humans still did as he told them and leaned against the wall. "Stubborn." Amidio cleared his throat, shifting so he was shielding his sister. "Who are you," he asked. Huitzilopochtli shrugged, "someone who is getting more interested in eating the hearts of you two with every passing moment. Fortunately for you both, you feel familiar. I can get my answers through less pleasant ways, but I prefer being polite. I am called Huitzilopochtli." The blank stare was aggravating, but he was used to it. "An old Aztec god apparently bored enough to entertain two stubborn children. Tell me, who are your parents? Which one of us brought you to this life?"

This guy thought he was some Aztec God. Well, that was a great sign and Nina managed not to look at him like he was too crazy. But then that last question was even crazier, because this guy wanted them to play along with his game as well.

Nina licked her bloody lips, nervous, still hungry. The heart in her hand wanted her attention but this freak was watching them. "None," Nina finally said with a little uncertainty. "We're not...Aztec Gods." she shared another glance with her brother.

He sighed. This is why he shouldn't be doing these things, but he refused to call Quetzalcoatl. He'd promised to keep an eye out for the other Gods rival. The appearance of these mortals was not him, and he was too curious to allow Quetzalcoatl control over them.

Dio gave his sister a look, that said this guy was crazy and motioned to the knife. Maybe they should just get rid of the witness?

Huitzilpochtli just sighed. "You push me." He stepped forward, his eyes shining brighter, becoming too blue. The area warmed up, and slowly he began to almost glow. It wasn't near anything he could have done before, but it was the only proof he had.

"What the..." Nina was backing up quickly, not sure what she was seeing. The guy was glowing! That wasn't- he wasn't- "You're not human," Nina breathed, grabbing for her brothers arm, the knife having clattered to the alley floor.

Dio just scooted back, trying to push his sister behind him. He couldn't go against some glowy guy-thing, but he'd die before he let anyone touch Nina. Huitzilopochtli sighed and released the power, taking out a ting and downing the contents, wiping the blood off his chin. "Neither are you two. Not entirely."

He motioned to the heart, "now. Are you planning on eating it or will you let me eat it? You are waisting it." He waited, letting himself go back to normal, "again, who are your parents?" The fact that these two might not know went beyond him.

Nina looked at the heart and then, because the hunger was still there, she bit into it quickly. It was still warm, thank god, and Nina could feel it strengthing her. When she handed the last half of it to Amidio she looked at the 'god' again. "Um, David and Lisa Maynard. Well... sort of. I don't think we're who you think we are."

Unlikely as he was standing there encouraging them to eat a heart after turning himself into a lightbulb.

Dio took the heart gratefully, finishing it off quickly, before this crazy glowing thing decided to be more crazy and call the cops on them. "Sort of how, and seeing I do not even know your names, I cannot say who you may or may not be."

He glanced to the dead body, waving to a few of his warriors who he knew would clean it up and deposit it somewhere else.

"We're adopted," she told the blue-eyed freak. "But not from... some Aztec." But inside Nina was latching onto this idea already. Wouldn't it be better to be the child of some bloodthirsty Aztec than just some incestuous murderer? If that was their heritage then they couldn't hold themselves to some sort of normal human taboos... could they?

Some other men were coming to take the body and Nina found herself baring her teeth at them, the sound she made an almost animal growl. That was hers and what were they going to do with it.

He watched the girl and the boy. The boy held more interest to Huitzilopochtli. He always needed more warriors, and one who had divine blood would make a decent general. Once he learned how to fight better. The girl he'd put under Elena's care. "Says the girl growling at my men. Relax. They are removing it. Dead bodies tend to be noticed. We need to hone your hunting skills."

He scoffed, "they teach you nothing do they. You eat hearts, and it sustains you but you are not of Aztec blood. You aren't mine, I can tell that much. If you were of Quetzalcoatl's blood I doubt the need for blood would be so fierce. Not Tlaloc. It is a mystery." He extended his hand, "you have two choices, the both of you. You come with me and we find answers or you can scour these streets for more prey and get yourself noticed and probably run into me again, and next time I will nt be as kind."

Dio glanced to this man, thing, before setting a hand on his sister's shoulder. "He coulda killed us. OR ratted us out. I dunno, your call."

Nina turned her gaze to her brother after glaring a little longer at the man. With the back of her hand she wiped the blood from her face and then, after thinking about Amidio's words she nodded.

From the ground she swept up the knife, wiping the blood off on her jeans and then slipping it into her jacket. "We'll go with you," Nina told him, her head held high. "But don't try and fuck with us." It was such an empty threat despite the fierceness behind it. She'd seen how easily he'd knocked her brother down.

Dio rose alongside his sister, remarkably quiet, and settled his arm around her waist. Both to support her and to support himself. This was beyond strange.

Huitzilopochtli chuckled to the threat, "I like you. Courage even in the face of odds you could never meet. Had I had a dozen more of you when Cortez invaded, I'd still have my lands perhaps." He shrugged and motioned them along, "what do I call you, even if you refuse to give me your actual name?" He motioned to one of his men, telling him to call Elena and inform her of the new guests he had.

Dio closed his hand around Nina's and smiled, "Amidio." It made Huitzilopochtli look back with a frown, "did you parents rename you?" When the boy shook his head, the god laughed. "Ominous names that give away the lineage, if you looked. It is a shame you were not taught properly. Such will be corrected." He almost regretted having to go away, but he'd be someplace warm, and with Mary so he would let Elena and Quetzalcoatl teach the young ones.

When he neared the temple he felt better. The worship helped. "Now. I will make a call and then see who your parent is. You are not related to me. I feel no need to kill either of you. Quetzalcoatl will know more."

Nina was silent, still gripping her brother's hand. She was almost positive she must be dreaming all this up. But now they were about to go into some building with this very strong and somewhat magical man and she wasn't feeling very comfortable about it.

Swallowing the hard lump in her throat, Nina didn't need to ask who Quetzalcoatl was. He was a flying snake god from the Aztecs. She could remember reading about it somewhere.

"You feel no need to kill us?" was all Nina asked, a little sarcastically. "Well. Isn't that lucky."

He glanced back to the girl, Dio stepping infront of her which made Huitzilopochtli smile. At least the boy's instincts were good. "It is. Few enjoy being my enemy." He motioned to the building before stepping inside. The warmth and small bristle of power made him relax.

The temple was actually cool for him. He preference it warmer. He glanced to one of the few worshipers, letting them know he was here and would need Elena at some point.

"Yes. I am a god of war. Me and mine," he pointed at the warriors dressed in blue, "we go out. We hunt. We kill. The heart is a sacrifice to me. It is my power. As is the blood."

Elena had been midway through giving a few potential recruits a tour of the temple, and normally she'd have told anyone interrupting her to go away. Elena took recruiting very seriously. But Huitzilopochtli's warriors didn't tend to bother anyone for frivolous matters, so she excused herself and left the tour in Eddie's hands. Eddie was always good at drawing people in.

Standing in the lobby was Huitzilopochtli, along with a boy and a girl Elena didn't recognize. She smiled at them all, bowing her head slightly in Huitzilopochtli's direction.

"Hello, my Lord."

"Elena," he smiled to the girl glad she had come. "How are my birds?" First things first. Then he glanced to the young ones, still amused when the boy kept his sister somewhat shielded.

"I bring you two children of Aztec blood. One of their parents is one of us. They do not know who. They barely know about us, about themselves." He shook his head, "I will call Quetzalcoatl, he will know more of course but I put them in your hands. Teach them, honor them for the blood in their veins. They are as divine as I am."

"They're fearless and hungry, as usual, my Lord," Elena said, smiling fondly at the thought of the hummingbirds. She was coming to enjoy taking care of the birds quite a bit. Being in the greenhouse when they were darting around her was a little like being in a shaken snowglobe, only with birds instead of snowflakes.

The smile dropped of her face a little, replaced by surprise as she started at the two humans. Or were they demigods? She moved a little closer, looking them over as if some evidence of who they were was going to suddenly show up on their faces. To Huitzilopochtli, she said, "Of course, I'll do everything I can."

To the boy and the girl, she said, "I'm Elena Torres. It's nice to meet you."

Nina leaned backwards a little from the woman, unsure of yet another person looking at her. Was there still blood on her face? She wiped herself again, sure there must be some sort of stain. Jesus, this was all terrible.

"Nina," she told her, the wariness evident in her tone. "And this is Amidio."

Elena put on her 'Everything is going to be all right' smile and aimed it at the both of them. "Why don't you come up to my office? I've got coffee and tea and can send someone to get pop, and we can talk."

They were clearly both very, very stressed out, despite any explanation Huitzilopochtli had given them. Elena had great respect and affection for her god, but he was not a people person.

She led them up the stairs to her office, talking to them over her shoulder. "I'm in charge of the Temple, the building you're in right now. Our religion worships the old gods of the Americas, the ones that have been here long before the Europeans ever came. That includes the Aztecs, obviously." She gave them a sympathetic look over her shoulder. "Which I'm assuming you didn't know you were a part of?"

He only nodded to the woman, setting his hand around his sisters. This was something he didn't know how to handle. He wanted to run, but the man, thing, that had glowed kept watching them.

He breathed easier when Huitzilopochtli left, not even caring about the lack of explanation, and kept a grip on his sisters hand. Atleast they were together in this. He followed the woman ,because what else could he do?

At the question he shook his head, "this is all beyond fucked up."

Nina looked over at Amidio and felt like she might laugh just for the sheer understatement of 'fucked up'. That couldn't even come close to describing it all.

"Well, they obviously are, since you were just talking to one," she said. "And Huitzilopochtli wouldn't make a mistake when it comes to something like that.

Her office sat at the top of the stairs, and she nudged the door open with her hip.It was a medium-sized room, and she'd done as much with the space as she could. One wall was taken up with bookshelves, another had a small table with a coffee maker and Nagini the snake's tank sitting on it. Pressed against the other wall were her small, personal altars to Huitzilopochtli, Tlazolteotl, and Quetzalcoatl (she wasn't sure where she'd put more altars if the entire pantheon showed up, honestly.)

In the middle of the room was her desk, with two folding chairs sitting in front of it. Elena poured out three cups of coffee, then took a seat behind the desk.

"So. You two probably have a lot of questions. I'll do my best to answer them."

He frowned then, "yeah, and what if we are?" Dio had always been outside of normal society, never bothered to try and fit in. But if this held answers. "Look Nina, maybe we'll get answers. "That doesn't sound too unusual," Elena said, trying to be reassuring. "At least not for a demigod."

She took a sip of her coffee and sat back a little in the chair. "I suppose I should start with the big picture? Gods are real. All of them, actually. The Christian one, the Hindu ones, all of them. And the older ones, too. Greeks and Egyptians, Native Americans and Aztecs. They're all as real as you or I. They draw strength from their believers, though, and that's the reason that you don't see them on TV taking over the world. Most of them can't." Elena shrugged. "But they're still alive and doing the things they've always done. In the case of you two, that means having children with mortals. Huitzilopochtli said you had Aztec blood, so that means at least one of your parents was a god."

Saying it out loud did make it sound very, very unbelievable. Elena forgot sometimes how strange her life was.
