Dio hadn't been counting how long he'd been gone, mainly because each day felt like an eternity. He'd spend half his days around the temple, trying to get used to this new life, and pretending that he didn't feel like shit for not having Nina there. But he needed her. He needed her more then air, more then food, more then anything. He didn't see why she wanted them to pretend they were normal again. Nothing could be normal again.
And now he finally found a place where he fit in, where he was looked up to, she wanted to make it all go away again.
At least, that's how it felt. Yet being without her was worse then anything and after too long he made his way back to the apartment. When he stepped inside he blinked at the darkness, nearly tripping over the foxes who were yipping to get food. With a frown he fed them before walking to the bedroom. Seeing Nina like this was killing him. This was his fault. Right now he'd do anything to just have her be old Nina again, even if it meant giving all that he'd found up.
Gently he reached out a hand to touch her shoulder, "Nina?"

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-30 08:06 am UTC (link) Track This Nina had lost count of the days, but she'd spent them doing very little. There was no point moving from bed without her brother. She knew that soon enough the landlord would come and kick her out because at some point the rent would be due. With no job Nina wouldn't have the money to pay it anyway, nor did she care.
The hand on her shoulder didn't feel real and Nina forced herself to roll over, the sheer movement exhausting. She'd stopped eating except when he body completely demanded it and she felt like nothing more than bones. She'd sort of hoped she'd just fade away.
"Dio?" she whispered, lips dry and cracked. Then she frowned, closing her eyes. "You're not really here."

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-30 08:24 am UTC (link) Track This "Jesus Nina what have you been doing?" She looked frail, and felt like he could almost crush her. Frowning he shook her, "I am here. And I'm sorry, alright. You're right. We'll go somewhere else if you want, just come on. Sit up." This was all his fault and he needed to make it right. Somehow.
Gently he brushed her hair from her face, kissing her once before trying to get her to sit up. "You need to eat something first though. Come on, let's go grab you something, huh?"

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-30 08:27 am UTC (link) Track This It really was Amidio. She wasn't imagining this, not like the other times. She thought she might cry but she lacked the energy for that. Instead she just wrapped her bony arms around him, burying her face in his throat. "M'sorry," she whispered. "so sorry."

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-30 08:31 am UTC (link) Track This She felt far too skinny. Despite everything else, he was supposed to look after her. He'd promised her that, and one fight had caused all this. "Shhh." Gently he set his arms around her, "s'alright. I'm here now." He'd make everything right later. Right now he needed to get her well again.
He looked at her, brushing her hair from her eyes, "come on love. I'm going to make you some lunch okay? Everything else can come after that."

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-30 08:33 am UTC (link) Track This Nina looked at him with worry. "You won't leave again?" she asked him. "Please, I'll be... I'll do better. Just don-t-" he voice caught in her throat and she clung to him again.

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-30 08:40 am UTC (link) Track This He felt like the lowliest shit on the planet. He'd caused Nina all this pain, when he'd always promised he wouldn't. He settled his arms around her, running his fingers along her hair, "not leaving. Promise."

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-30 08:52 am UTC (link) Track This For a long time Nina just held onto him as tightly as she could, sure that if she let him go then she'd open her eyes and find him gone. She knew now that she'd do whatever it took to keep him there with her, anything at all. She knew now that without her brother she couldn't survive.

[info]foxy_devil 2011-03-30 08:59 am UTC (link) Track This After a while he sat down beside her, continuing to hold her and make sure that she knew he wasn't going anywhere. He didn't know what he had to do to fix all this, he just knew that he would, no matter what.

[info]awaitingstorms 2011-03-30 09:05 am UTC (link) Track This Nina swallowed the hard lump in her throat and nodded. She'd do anything too. "Oh Dio," she just whispered. Then, remembering them, she said: "The foxes. I don't know when I fed the foxes."
