It was everything he had ever wanted.

Malcolm had spent the last two days right beside Marian. He hadn't really paid attention to any of his own needs, only eating what she left after she had had her fill, and sleeping when she slept, cuddled against him. He had changed her bandages twice daily and given her meds and ministered to her every need, helping her to the bathroom and back.

When she woke on Saturday, he fixed her something more substantial for breakfast, beans on toast. Then he sat as she ate. "Do you feel up to a shower or bath?" he asked gently. "I could uh...I culd help? I promise I'll be a gentleman."
