Marian felt like maybe she was sleeping more than she should, but she also knew her body was desperately trying to claw itself back from the brink. And, oh gods, she was so tired. She couldn't remember ever being so tired.
And so Marian just nodded and let him ease her down, flinching again when her injured back touched the mattress. At least there were bandages over the burns now, and she wouldn't have to worry about her shirt sticking to them again.
You're safe, he said, and Marian believed him. Yes, he wanted to own her, to possesses her, but was that so bad really? To be possessed by a demon was horrors far beyond any, and she dreaded to think of what might have still being coming with that beast, the tortures he suggested but hadn't yet brought out.
No, to be here was okay. To be here and know that her boys were somewhere else, far away, that was okay. That would have to do.
Marian closed her eyes and almost straight away she was asleep again.
