"I'll see if the man lets us," Tuck breathed. "I can hear him coming back now. Can you wait a second," the phone was still on speaker when Tuck spoke to their rescuer who was passing in a thermos to them.
"Thank you so much. Our friends are coming. Can we keep the phone until they get here?"
"Of course, of course," Bob answered. "You three share that hot chocolate, I'm going to pop down the road for the sandwiches."
"I- I never even asked your name," Tuck said with a small, self-effacing smile.
"Bob Gray," he offered up. "Came to read the meter. Just glad I was in the right place at the right time."
"Michael," Tuck said back. "Michael Adderley. Nice to meet you, Bob. Wish I wasn't in a literal cell when it happened."
"My wife is never going to believe this. You boys hold on, I'll be as fast as I can," Bob said, and then he disappeared again.
"We'll have the phone," Tuck said to Much, though he would have been able to hear the whole thing. "I need to help Will drink something. Do you want me to leave you on speaker, or hang up?"
