After speaking to Qebhet online, Luna had made her way to Astoria Park to do the impossible task of trying to find a terrified and lost puppy. Serene was such a tiny sweet thing, and to think that she was out there all alone was another scoop of awful on top of Hecate's death. What if she'd run into traffic? What if someone had taken her home to keep her?
But it wasn't Serene that Luna found, but Hecuba. Or, more accurately, Hecuba had found Luna. The mortal woman dropped to her knees in front of the big hound and wrapped her arms around her, burying her face in the warm fur. "I have to find Serene," she said, leaning back on her heels and watching Hecuba's face. "Hecate said she'd be somewhere around here, but she's just a normal puppy and- I just don't-" Luna squeezed her eyes shut and ran a hand through her hair. When she opened them again, Hecuba had turned around and walked away from her, pausing and looking back until Luna got up and started following.
It was Hecuba who found Serene, sleeping amongst rubbish bags in an alley. Luna had scooped the scared and grateful thing up into her arms and then she'd put both the dogs into the backseat of Hermes' car, where she'd already put out plenty of blankets to make it as comfortable (and comforting) as possible.
And that's where they were now, sleeping in the car while Luna waited for the next part of this plan. She'd dressed well today, in tailored black pants and a pale cream shirt, all of her tattoos covered and her hair drawn back into a ponytail. She didn't want to stand out to anyone she spoke to, or give them any reason not to trust her.
When she heard her name, Luna turned with raised eyebrows and then nodded at the woman there. "Qebhet," she nodded to her. "I'm so glad you came."
