Returning to the car, he retrieved one of her bags as well as his own, slinging each over a shoulder and carrying them the short distance to the cabin. One he had the keys out of the lockbox, he got the patio's wire door open and flicked on the little porch light, before unlocking the house proper.

Aside from the bathroom, which was tucked away behind the stairs, there was only a single room, containing a compact but modern kitchen, a squashy sofa and a fold-out dining table and chairs.
