WHO: Patrick and Kellankitty WHAT: Cuddles and then one ticked-off kitty WHEN: Friday afternoon WHERE: Their apartment WARNINGS: None most likely
Patrick hadn't told anyone except George about his engagement yet. It wasn't because he wasn't excited, it was mostly because he didn't feel like dealing with other people yet. He was rather enjoying just sitting at home and ignoring the world while spending pretty much every waking moment with John. He was feeling so calm and happy lately that he just didn't want to welcome in any thing that could upset this moment of peace.
Patrick found Kellan, who he still had problems remembering not to call Grey Cat, curled up on a chair. He picked up the cat and he buried his face in the fur of his stomach. Then he indulged in some illicit cooing. "Who's a cute, fluffy kittyface?! Your daddies are getting married! Who is going to have two daddies, kittyboo?! Your little face, look at you!"
As he spend most of his time lounging about, he tended not to mind the Saint's cuddling episodes, as he referred to them to, but even he had his limits Most days he could tolerate being picked up, and coo'ed at but it was the conversation had that made him pay attention.
Selfishly, he liked his situation. The decent food and the ability to do as he pleased was rather liberating and he'd just gotten used to the idea of the boyfriend. That now it was getting worse didn't sit well. He didn't particularly like sharing, nor having the threat of being kicked out hanging over his head either.
So he squirmed until he was a bit looser before deciding to just shift to his human form, uncaring about the fact he was naked. "Hey, hey. Baby talk is unappreciated, thank you. And you're getting what?"
Patrick still wasn't used to the fact that his cat could just shift into a human being at will so he stared at the naked man for a second before running a hand through his hair and then clearing his throat.
"Heh...sorry. Uhm, getting married! John and I are getting married."
"Why?" Boyfriends he could handle, marriage was more permanent. It had been hard enough to adjust for another competitor where attention was concerned, and giving up more territory wasn't something he was happy about.
He truly wished this damn other was mortal. At least they died. This one didn't. It was plenty fine the Saint was happy. The whole other parties had hardly been in the deal.
That wasn't the reaction Patrick had been expecting. He sat down in the chair he had recently removed Kellan from and he stared up at his pet. "Uhm...because I love him?"
Love to him always was a thing that seemed to pass. He didn't get it. Thus he blinked then made a face, "well yeah. Seen, heard, all that. Figured that why he was staying here. Why do you want he whole permanent marriage thing? Everything seemed fine before."
Patrick gave Kellan a worried look. "We were going to be together forever anyway. This is just a statement. I've been feeling...a little insecure lately. He wanted to make sure I knew he wasn't going anywhere. Are you alright, kitt-Kellan?"
He had enough tact and enough of a moral compass not to say anything about John 'not going anywhere'. He was selfish, but not cruel. "I don't see why it's necessary if you already know that." Lucky Basil, at least he'd already established having the two saints, and Kellan was sure his cousin wasn't going to let him live this down.
"I don't like this," talking was a benefit, but the cat form was t least better at begging. "I chose to let you keep me. I didn't include Saint boyfriend. Fiancee. Whatever. I was here first."
Patrick leaned forward, wondering how he could make this better for Kellan. It was true, when Kellan had come into his life he hadn't had anyone else. Hell, he hadn't even had Downpatrick yet.
"Kellan, I know you were here first. You know I love you, right? You're my little kitty squishface."
"Yeah we need to talk about this nickname thing," he didn't mention the other things. He had stayed with Patrick out of choice and respect (and some amount of caring, but he wasn't telling anyone that), and everything was changing again. And change tended to lead to him having to move on, which he didn't wish to do.
He made a face, "I will kill you if you repeat this but I don't feel like getting tossed on the streets because Saint boyfriend has issues."
Ah, that was what this was. Patrick reached out but then he let his hand fall short. Probably petting a naked man was different than petting a kitty. "Kellan, no. John wouldn't want to toss you out anyway and even if he did I wouldn't let him. Ever. Like you said, you were here first. And I love you, even if you get all sarcastic when I tell you that. You can stay forever too. Or however long you want." Patrick hoped it was a very long time. He didn't want to lose Kellan.
Admitting these things wasn't always part of his nature. He talked himself into thinking it all worked out well in the end, and that really all he wanted to keep was the comfort afforded to him. "You say that now." He wasn't assured of the whole John thing yet. He'd trust Patrick to make sure he wouldn't end up in the streets again. "Haven't left so far."
He relaxed his stance because he did see things, even if they hardly came up as important to him. "Must be the food. Fine. I'll be there when you do this thing and wear clothes, but I'm not letting him own me." He paused for a while, "yet. Took me long enough to let you own me."
"And I'll keep saying it until I'm blue in the face," Patrick said with a firm nod. Patrick watched Kellan relaxed and he relaxed as well. "I'm so glad you'll be there! It means a lot to me, thank you. I'll get you whatever kind of food you want!"
