"I reckon I can handle it too," he said, jumping up to take Tuck into his arms. "I hate that she kept us apart," Daniel growled into his father's shoulder. "If we had known, we would have fought tooth and nail to get back to you."
Tuck sniffled a little, but he was really grateful for the hug. "That means so much to me," he said, stepping back to smile at Daniel. He gave the man's arms a squeeze and went back to his chopping. "If I had known she was treating you like shit, I would have fought tooth and nail too. I thought I was leaving you with a great mum." Norah hadn't been the primary caregiver, but she hadn't been awful either.
Daniel sat back down and he sighed. "Did you know the Care Bears are from the devil?" he asked. "I don't actually think there was a show on television she didn't develop some kind of strong feelings about. They were demonic or 'worldly'. And we can't be worldly."
"What does that even mean," Tuck asked.
"Fuck if I know," Daniel snorted. "I think it means, having any urges whatsoever, actually. And let me tell you how awkward two children with healthy functioning libidos find it growing up without a father figure to tell us it was fine, with a mother who told us we were dirty little shits."
"She told you you were...fuuucking hell," Tuck groaned, now angry chopping.
