Fairytales, the Merry men who are coming; Entrance
Fairytales walked at the front of the group, eager to reach their destination. Behind her walked Little John, Will Scarlet, Much Millerson and Leila Nasir, each with varying levels of anticipation for such a lavish event. Elaine’s dress was by far the most intricate, a giant pouf of flowers and tulle and lace, a blue and gold mask on her face, feathers and flowers in her hair. The others were dressed more modestly, being people of smaller means, but she had insisted on providing them each with masks in keeping with the grandeur of the event. She lifted the front of her dress and climbed the steps eagerly, then turned to face them all, holding out her hand for Little John to come and join her.
“You must all try to have fun tonight. I insist upon it. Dance, eat, drink, meet new people. I get so few balls these days, so I am going to do all of those things at once! John-” Here she turned to look up at him adoringly, “-you must stay by my side tonight, do you promise? We will dance until the clock strikes midnight and our coach turns back into a pumpkin.”
Will glanced at Much and Leila with concern. “Pumpkin?” he mouthed, really hoping they definitely would have a ride home later. But Elaine was already sweeping ahead, so he shrugged and followed along.
