Tuck listened carefully to what she was saying, his expression unreadable until she said she was having doubts. "I can understand that," Tuck nodded, "he's insufferable." He was worse than insufferable, of course, but hopefully not to Marcella. He certainly agreed with Marian that he was a terrible person.
"Well what I said remains true. No one here is going to harm you." Maybe he was naive and far too trusting, but he wanted to believe her. Even if she was collecting evidence, they weren't going to hurt her. What did you expect to see?"
