Since it's completion, Marian had spent a lot of time inside that cell, contemplating it.
Sometimes she walked around it and considered escape options, checking out what might need to be further fortified if it came down to it, what needed to be sanded back for safety, what needed to be further soundproofed and how. But more often when Marian was in there it was to consider it as an action. It was the sit on the floor with her back against the wall, in silent and horrible rumination. It only felt right that if she was going to lock someone inside - even their enemy - that she should have some inkling of what it might be like.
When she heard a voice out in the Fox, Marian started and felt a sudden blazing shock of anger at herself. She hadn't been listening for the door and she felt exposed and guilty. Quickly she came out of the bathroom but when she saw that it was Stutely, her whole body lost the tension and her face relaxed.
"Oh, she said, "it's you." She let out a tight breath and pulled the tarp back over the door.
