Rhiannon turned and looked up at the boy, who was trying to look back at her but finding it hard. "I can," she said, getting up and pulling a key from her pocket. She unlocked one of Iestyn's cuffs, causing the other side to slide loose, and she made a weak effort to prevent her "nephew" from collapsing into a pained heap on the ground.
"I'm sorry, I have to chain you up again," she said sadly, glancing towards the stairs and trembling convincingly. With some effort, she dragged Iestyn close enough to his side of the room that she could lock him up again. He groaned, the pain in his shoulders and back almost unbearable.
"I'm so sorry. I wish I could do more," she murmured as she came back to Aderyn, picking up the bottle of antiseptic to tip a little onto a swab. "Hold still, he won't give me too much time."
