Who: Clio and Patrick
What: Tiny adorable baby and overactive Saint (originally posted by Clio)
Where: Clio's place
When: Thursday
Warnings: Fluff, baby-things
Clio had meant it. She should have given Patrick a key ages ago, but it had slipped her mind. Most of her family had one, except Hermes as for some reasons she figured he may enjoy picking her locks, and she'd gotten a few made. One had been send to Jacob when Ella had been born, and now she'd give one to Patrick. If he hadn't earned one, no one would.
And she was glad to be kept busy. Raphael had gone silent, and it worried her. He'd seemed so interested in her, and curious about the baby,so she wondered. She had a habit of having feelings for people who didn't notice, or couldn't return them, or some of her relationships didn't last. It made her wonder if Aphrodite was still cursing her, but she doubted it. She'd carry on, but spending time with Patrick would help. And despite only being a few days old she knew her daughter liked him.
So when the doorbell rang she opened it and led him inside. "She's napping so the squirm off contest will need to wait a few moments. Tea?"
Patrick grinned, even at the mention of his goddaughter. Despite being new to relationships, he had always been good with kids. And he should be, since his sister had had tons of them. "Aww, sleepy baby! Tea sounds wonderful! I also brought you eclairs and I brought Ella a stuffed leprechaun. I had to search to find one that wasn't slightly horrifying..."
"You're going to spoil her." There was no way out of that though. She knew her sisters would spoil Ella, not to mention the siblings she got along with. Smiling she closed the door behind him and went and set the kettle on. "although I appreciate the eclairs." Smiling she handed him the set of keys. "Here, I had to get a couple of those made anyway."
She frowned, "and if I could ask a favor? I'm asking someone to make sure nothing bad comes in, but that doesn't extend to your club. Do you think you could ask your angel friend to help? Or if you could, that'd be great." She smiled, setting her fingers over her palms. "Just concerned you know?"
"I plan to do my best to spoil her!" Patrick said cheerfully. He accepted the key with a large smile. "Thank you!" He was so happy he had become so close with Clio. She was one of his very best friends and he was so grateful for her.
"Of course! You mean Michael? He could absolutely come and put up his angelic wards. I am sure he would be happy to do so." He absolutely understood. Lucifer could not get her again. He could not get Ella. Patrick reached out for her hand and he smiled reassuringly. "I can even text him now if you want."
She shook her head, "you and the rest of the family. At least she won't want for anything." And this time it wouldn't end like with her last girl. There ware so many others to support her now. "And no problem. I should have done that ages ago."
She nodded, "yes. Him." Smiling she took his hand, "only if he's not busy. It can wait a few days. I didn't have anyone else to ask. I didn't know if any other angels were around."
It made Patrick feel good that Ella would want for nothing. He had suffered through years of want and need, alone and cold. When he looked at little Ella, all he wanted to do was protect her from all the bad in the world. And he was just her godfather.
Patrick pulled his phone out of his pocket and he started composing a text. "I'll ask if he's busy. So...Raphael couldn't do it then?" he asked carefully.
She shrugged, releasing his hand to busy herself with the tea. "I haven't heard from him in weeks now. And I should understand he's busy. He's got the hospital and he is all Angel like." She gave him a slight smile, "but I don't understand. I want to be important. I want to matter. And I know I do, just not like that." She poured the tea with a sigh. "So I'm just keeping busy. I'll live. Sucks, but I've got Ella to fuss over."
Patrick looked shocked. "You are important! I know it's not the same, but you're one of the most important people in my life. And if Raphael can't see how amazing you are, it's his loss." Patrick quite thought Clio deserved the entire world.
She handed him the tea with a smile, "I know, and he took me to Florida. And he was there when I was mourning Hyakinthos. So I know I'm something to him. I just need definition, but I'm too much like mortals and he isn't." She shrugged, "and maybe I'm picky, and have too many standards. No Greeks, no mortals." She rolled her eyes and set her hands around her mug. "And I don't know. Someone to come home to. That can deal with me and my crazy. And my family."
She gave a shrug, "but there are more important things then that, and I know that." She set her mug down as she noticed Ella wake and she walked to her, picking her up. "This too will pass."
Patrick took the tea and he grinned. "It is nice to have someone to come home to. I never knew I wanted it until I had it. It's strange."
Patrick put his mug down as well as soon as Ella woke up. "Baby!"
"Strange but nice," then she laughed and shook her head, making sure Ella didn't need anything before moving to Patrick. "here. You're Uncle Patrick came all the way to see you." Smiling she went to let him hold the girl. "You're going to be such a dad. And I'm going to sit there and giggle."
"I never wanted to be a dad before," Patrick said, making sure Ella's head was supported while he held her. He bounced around a little, grinning at her widely. "But now looking at her, I think I do."
She smiled, sipping at her tea. "I never wanted to be a mother before my son. But then I held him and that all vanished. Even after everything I'll never regret that. And I imagine Jacob wasn't thrilled either, but you should see him now. Melts like pudding with her." She set the mug down, leaning against her counter. "You and John ever talk about kids?"
Patrick had to admit that Jacob had been adorable, even in the hospital. And he didn't seem like someone who was often sentimental. "No," Patrick admitted, leaning down to kiss Ella's gorgeous little nose. "We've never discussed it. I don't know if he would want kids. He's probably a little like Jacob in that regard."
She nodded, "Well you don't know until you ask. Even if it's no then you can go from there. Until then I'm sure Ella won't mind the attention." Smiling she brushed her daughter's cheek.
"And I love giving her attention," Patrick said, nuzzling her. "She's so gorgeous. I don't think I've ever seen anyone so perfect."
She couldn't help but grin. Patrick was adorable really. For a moment she wondered how it would be if he'd been Ella's father, but then she shrugged it away. "I am biased so I agree with you there." She smiled to Ella before finishing her tea, "you'll need to pass her in a few. She'll get hungry."
Patrick, who had his own food issues and thought a child being hungry was one of the worst things in the world, never argued once. "Can't have that, can we, Ella? No we cannot!" he kissed her cheek again and then leaned her towards Clio. "Mommy will feed you! I lack the appropriate equipment."
"That you do." Smiling she took the girl and went to her couch. She didn't think Patrick had issue with this. "Don't worry as soon as she starts teething, we're switching to bottles. Then you can help." She'd keep nursing as long as she could, but experience told her it could hurt.
Patrick, who had spent rather a lot of years naked in a field, wasn't flustered by breast-feeding in the least. "Ooh, I could give her a bottle, yes! Clio? Do...do you really think I'd be good at being a father? I'm so...you know..." Patrick flapped his hands around, trying to show what he was, since there was hardly a word for it.
She waited for Ella to make it known she was hungry before settling down to feed her, her free hand brushing along her daughter's tiny fingers. "Of course." She grinned, "I think you'll be fine. Sometimes it takes being a father or mother, but you'll be fine. Just always remember that sometimes you won't have all the answers, and that you'll be tired and smell like baby." She shrugged, "Everything else is relatively easy."
Patrick didn't mind smelling like a baby or being tired. "Thank you. I worry I'd be horrible at it or totally mess some poor kid up. But I have all this love inside me-" Then Patrick laughed at himself. "I think I just sounded like an episode of Care Bears."
She laughed and arranged her clothes once her daughter was finished and sett her on her shoulder, running her hand along the girl's back. "Worse things to sound like you know. And you'll make mistakes. I'll make mistakes. The thing to remember is to give them that love, remind yourself they aren't a mini version of you, and prepare for anything. I think that if you and John have a kid, that kid will be loved and cherished." She smiled at him, "and I'll be with you whenever you want."
Patrick smiled warmly at Clio, wrapping his arms around himself. "You're wonderful, you know? Thank you."
She grinned, "well yes I know." then she chuckled, "but thank you and you are welcome. Whenever you need." Smiling she shifted Ella. "And this little piggy is off to bed. Want to put her to sleep?"
"Ooh, I'd love to!" Patrick bounced excitedly, because bouncing with babies was a bad idea. "I'll sing to her."
She grinned and rose, "settle down." Smiling she then handed the baby to him. "She likes it, I think. She also likes her daddy reading to her." She smiled. "She knows those voices."
