Who: Joey and Patrick What: Mostly silliness. I felt like writing these two. When: Saturday afternoon Where: Joey's Warnings: Boner-talk
Joey had been dreaming of watching Brian feed CJ grapes while Bobby sang songs in the background, lazily strumming his guitar. They looked like a happy family and Joey felt strangely out of place, though he knew logically he had no reason to feel that way. He had been brought into the family and simply because he had no past with them didn't mean he had no future with them. It was nice to watch anyway. Brian and CJ had electricity even in Joey's dreams.
When he was woken abruptly by his best friend crawling into bed with him, all red hair and silly smiles, Joey found he was just that little bit regretful that the dream had to end. "Xavier let me in!" Patrick said, moving up to plant a kiss on Joey's forehead. "Rise and shine, gorgeous!"
"I'm going to murder you with my morning breath," Joey growled at him, though he didn't actually mind being woken up by the excitable saint. If he did, he knew Patrick wouldn't have done it. "You know I'm naked, right?"
Patrick's eyes widened and immediately he put his hands over his head, as if in surrender. "No!" he said in faux-shock. "Why are you naked?"
"I like it," Joey groaned, rolling over, still decently covered by his leopard-print sheets. "Clothes are stupid." Which was a little bit flying in the face of everything he actually believed, but so be it. "Why are you so cheerful at-"
"Noon?" Patrick asked, clearly amused.
"Oh f-" Joey rolled over, burying his face in the pillow. "I don't wanna wake up! You can't make me!"
Patrick grinned and he simply leaned back against Joey's pillows beside his friend. "That's fine, sleepyhead. We can stay here for a little while. I came to check on you. Hadn't heard from you in a while. Besides I know you know a few people who might have been affected by this Greek uproar thing and it doesn't seem to be as over as everyone thought it was."
Ah. That. Joey had to hand it to Patrick, the man really cared. Joey had forgotten about that, and Patrick hadn't, even though he wasn't necessarily involved. Not that Joey was, but one of his little friends was the son of Poseidon, and this could very well affect him. "Veronica said Bernie was okay before. I don't know how much is still going on. I get confused. I think the actions of gods aren't meant to be understood by mere naked mortals who sleep in leopard-print sheets.
Patrick chuckled at that. "I think the actions of gods aren't even really understood by the gods. So you're doing well, Muffin?"
Feeling a little more awake now, Joey laughed. "You know I could be offended by that. Once I was a muffin."
Patrick wrinkled his nose. "Fairies..."
"As I am no longer a baked good, I'm fine! How are you? Weathered the storm okay?"
"Just fine. We had a Nicholas-shaped house guest for it, poor guy."
"I wouldn't mind a Nicholas-shaped house guest," Joey said, his voice slightly thick. "I mean, how kind of you both to take care of him!"
"You're incorrigible. Now get up, I am taking you out to lunch!" Patrick patted Joey's thigh and then he jumped out of the bed.
"Noooo!" Joey whined, even though lunch was starting to sound really good. Why did lunch have to mean moving? Why was life so dreadfully unfair? He pulled the sheets up over his head, hoping that might make Patrick disappear.
"Yes! And you can tell me how things are going with your significant others and I will tell you about naughty dreams and waking up with my legs around Nicholas' thigh."
Joey pulled the sheets down just enough so that his eyes were uncovered. "What?"
"I was asleep and can therefore not be held accountable," Patrick said with a grin. "And you don't get the story unless you wake up! Xavier told me I had to get you out of bed or else he would come in here and do it."
"Arrgggh!" Joey moaned, pulling the sheets up again. "Can't you just bring me breakfast in bed and tell me about your embarrassing sleep boners here?" He was pretty sure Patrick was the weirdest saint he knew. That was pretty much why he loved him.
"Nope! Up you get!" And then Patrick played incredibly dirty and he yanked the sheet off of Joey. To preserve Joey's privacy, Patrick just wrapped the sheet around his own head to make sure he didn't see any sleep boners. And then, because he had a sheet over his head, he wiggled around like a ghost.
Joey stared at him the saint under the sheet pretending to be a ghost. How could be stay in bed when that was going on in front of him. "You are a lunatic. Stay there," Joey instructed, finally heaving himself out of the bed to search for some clothes. When he was properly dressed, he pulled the sheet from Patrick's head.
"I want to be a ghost for Halloween now," Patrick grinned.
"Your hair has gone mental!"
"It's just scared of ghosts." Patrick ran his fingers through it to try to calm it down. "Do I need to wait while you apply your face?"
"Nah. I'll go commando this morning. I should brush my hair though." Which could take some time.
"I'll go play gin with Xavier!" Patrick said excitedly. "Just shout when you're done!"
Joey shook his head as Patrick ran back out of the room to find Xavier. There really was nothing quite like having Patrick around. It was as if he crackled with energy. Sometimes Joey wished he could bottle it. "I'll be out soon!" he called after Patrick and then he went to fix his hair so his friend could take him out to lunch.
