"So much confidence," Luna agreed, grinning at him. She kept smiling until he asked her that question and the smile dropped instantly. "Oh," she said, trying to think of the words and pushing the smile back onto her face for him. "No, it was fine. I mean, it wasn't, it was actually... really fucking horrible-" the smile wavered, and for just an instant there was a much more vulnerable expression there, something she forced down to force the safe smile back up.
Luna's fake smile was utterly convincing - a well practiced and captivating expression that she made sure always reached her eyes. But it became immediately completely unconvincing when it appeared straight after a look that said she was on the edge of breaking. The problem was now that she was pushing the smile too much, worried if she stopped faking it now she'd go too far in the other direction.
"Yours sounded much worse," she assured him, keeping her lean against the bench casual and taking a sip of her beer.
