He hadn't, was the annoying thing. Known it would upset her. It was one of the things Artemis found most frustrating about Hermes. He'd swan into her world as though none of her boundaries, physical or otherwise, existed, and then when she called him on it he'd be thoroughly perplexed, as though she was the one making it weird.
