As his daughter spoke, Anubis' already dark eyes seemed to darken more, narrowing in question and concern over what he was hearing. He did not know any monsters that walked this earth above and devoured a mortal's soul.
Anubis was not unknowing when it came to the destruction of souls. He had seen this carried out many times his long life, had been the one to take the heart of the unworthy and toss it into the waiting jaws of Ammit, so that it would be destroyed forever, never to enter the underworld.
And even among men there were ways to stop a soul from travelling to the Duat at all - to decapitate someone was to annihilate their soul completely and bar them from eternity.
But something that fed upon souls, something like a beast of flesh and blood? Anubis didn't know about this.
"I've heard stories of things like this," Anubis said, "but none of them I thought to be true. This is... unknown to me." He went over to the fridge and pulled out a water bottle, unscrewing the cap and passing it to Qebhet. "Were you harmed by this?"
