Athena's gaze drifted momentarily back to the hallway down which Peitho's attendant had disappeared with Hercules. She had her own thoughts on the way her brother and his wife treated the humans with whom they surrounded themselves – more than a few, bunched in a morass of complex ambivalence around a knot of quiet disapproval – but she was not about to speak ill of a member of her family to an outsider, especially not while they sat under that family member's roof.
Instead, she asked, "Do you know many gods, Will Scarlet? Not legends or saints or culture heroes, but gods?"
