Melpomene was in an amazing mood. She'd witnessed a car accident on her way here - glass like diamonds across the road, the black finality of body bags like dark slugs in the ambulance. The victims had been young, all of them, and it tore at the depths of her heart. From the bones of her, she longed for a song that would capture the essence of the reckless pointlessness young lives, and the dark finality of death. She would, she promised herself, inspire a song like that tonight.
She didn't think she'd be able to draw such a song from Hades, but still, he was a little bit irresistible, the way he was trying to disappear into the couch. Melpomene folded her legs up underneath her as she sat down beside him, her shoulder against the back of the couch so she faced him. "Hello Hades, Ruler of Many," she said, with a soft smile.
