"Good-bye." She flashed him a last smile and slipped out of the door and started down the stairs. There was a car waiting for her on the curb, had been waiting for a bit longer than anticipated. Alec, the driver, was listening to music and eating M&Ms when she got back in.
"You took your time," he commented, looking at her in the rear-view mirror. Marcie tried to give him one of her trademark fierce scowls but it wasn't quite as fierce as usual due to the flush on her cheeks and the twist of lust lower down.
"I got held up. I'm running late to the next appointment, can we hurry up please?"
As the car pulled out from the curb, she fished the ring box out of her pocket and looked at it. Did she dare take a peek? Carefully, she lifted the lid, and when she saw what was inside she dropped the lid again with a snap. A tooth. A tooth. Just what kind of man was he...?
