Iestyn was still riding the high of the night before. He'd slept late and showered and sat looking at himself in the mirror for a while. Aderyn was still hidden under the bedclothes, and just grunted at him when he asked if he could use her lip gloss, so he took that as a yes and got dressed. The dress from the night before lay across the end of his bed, and he picked it up and swished it around his legs for a minute before putting it back with a happy sigh.
He headed down the stairs, singing the song from the night before to himself. He jumped the last three steps, bouncing towards the kitchen.
"I'm just a father who sees another father in pain and I can't just do nothing about that."
"I appreciate that, Joey, I really do."
Iestyn paused outside the moment as the caught the tail end of his father's conversation, the song dying on his lips, and he peeked around. Joey and David sat at the table, hands clasped together. Was his father doing a saint thing? He felt like he should be able to tell but he was never fully sure.
"Hi," he said, not wanting to intrude on the peaceful moment, but David lifted his head and smiled.
"Good afternoon. Look who came to visit. Do you want tea?"
"Hey Mama." Iestyn came in and hugged Joey around the shoulders from behind. "Were we the stars or what?"
