Marian didn't want to look behind herself, didn't dare to see if he was following closely. She needed to him to lose the trail as quickly as possible. She went up the stairs, pushing through people who then swore and shouted at her, and rounded a bend.
Her feet echoed through the high ceilings and when Marian spotted a sign that said STAFF ONLY BEYOND THIS POINT, she headed for that, bolting down the corridor.
She turned a corner and felt something strange in her body, something like a tingle that past over her entirely.
And then she was gone, nothing but an empty corridor left where she had just been.
