Then, very loudly, she pointed towards him and said, "don't you touch me!" People in the carriage turned to look. "You keep your hands off me, rapist scum!"
Making a scene was key. Keeping people looking at her was key.
The train announced that it was coming into the next station, and Marian had to get off it right now. She grabbed her bow bag but not her other bag. Everything in that was replaceable - clothes, toiletries, books - but her bow was not only the most expensive thing she owned, but also the only thing that might protect her.
She backed up towards the door, ready for it to open.
