Marian had expected the arrival of Leila and had decided to be an adult about it and mostly ignore the other woman. What she hadn't expected was that Leila would arrive with Robin, something which made her brain travel down all sorts of jealous avenues she hated.
He looked upset. (Or was it guilty? Where did he run into Leila?)
Marian hated this side of herself she was seeing lately, and she was trying to keep her mouth shut.
She'd been standing near Alan and she moved closer to him then, standing in front of him and taking his arms to drape around her. (This wasn't an an attempt to make Robin jealous. In at least two stories Alan was her brother, so although mostly they didn't think of each other as true blood relatives, they did act like siblings. Alan just happened to be someone she could be comfortably tactile with, and it had always been that way. Everyone knew there was nothing romantic going on between Alan and Marian.)
Alan kissed the top of Marian's head, having to lean to do so, and then turned his attention back to the group. He assumed her need for closeness was about what happened to Tuck.
"We need to be careful," Alan said to them all, with a small shake of his head. "Will, you only just got out. Anything happens they'll send you right back."
