Who: Poseidon, Rhode
When: Saturday, midday
What: Rhode being a good volunteer, then runs into daddy dearest
Where: Gulf coast, near Beaumont, TX
Warnings: Poseidon being a buttface? tbd
With the devastation that hurricane Harvey had left behind in Texas, Rhode had found herself volunteering in one of the towns struck by that deadly storm. She couldn't help thinking that her father had something to do with it. How many times had he been involved in the wrecking of ships, or earthquakes that caused her husband to fall into the ocean and never return? It was a thought that stayed with her continually. One that she had a difficult time pushing aside, because she just knew Poseidon had something to do with it. And now there were three more heading toward the states. It would take a lot of convincing for her to believe otherwise.
She had put in time off for work so that she could travel south and help. Maybe she was only one, tiny goddess in a sea of tragedy and water, but Rhode was determined to help. Part of her nature was to help those in need, even if her father could be cruel and unforgiving. That was part of what drove her to help others. She didn't want to be cruel, she didn't want to hurt others, she wanted to be the type who helped others and who forgave others for their transgressions. So Rhode had asked for two weeks off to help with the clean up, having found herself in the town of Beaumont, Texas. She had settled into a position of handing out food, clothes, and toiletries from a local church, as well as gas cards.
There was a little twinge of something familiar on the horizon. Something, or someone, Rhode knew well. As curious as she was to find out who it was, she continued with her work because these people actually needed help. Whoever it was could wait.
