"Here, take him, I'll call her," Jesse said to Nicholas. He handed Bastian to him, digging out his phone. "Gotta haul some more things in out of the car anyway."
"Nice to see you too, though I wish it was under better circumstances," Jesse said, sighing sadly. "Bastian, can you wave at Grandma?" Bastian managed a sleepy flopping of one hand, before burying his face in Nicholas' shoulder. "He's tired," Jesse explained. "We've been out most of the day. Excuse me, I'll go call my mother."
He headed back out into the garage, speaking quietly with Ceridwen as he grabbed the remaining bags. He heard her hiss in anger on the other end of the line, and she promised she'd be right over.
"She's heading out now," he told the other two as he came back inside. "Shouldn't be very long."
