Hebe did her best to keep herself busy. She tried to pretend he wasn't there, but that didn't work. She was very much aware that he wasn't going anywhere, especially when he spoke. It wasn't the sound of her name that stopped her from moving around the shop, it was what he said next. Her breathing was slow and steady as she remembered her mothers words. He was talking, so she would listen. He was opening up, so she would hear him.
She set down a folder she had picked up and just stood there for a moment. Hebe was known to be rather childish at times, but when something was important to her she could be very grown up. She was Youth, but she was older than all the humans who inhabited the earth. There was no reason to delay this conversation any longer and since he had decided to be the first to speak, she asked the most difficult question first, "Do you love me?" It had been plaguing her for a long time and she needed to know.
