WHO: Hermes, Jesse Delacroix, Patroclus, Phantasos, Hybris, then open to fam
WHAT: Rescues
WHEN: Sunday night
WHERE: ...place. Then hospital?
WARNINGS: Mentions of torture, and Hybris totes dies again

The second Hermes heard that Roxanna's ridiculous warrior boyfriend had been kidnapped, he'd been looking for him. Not that he would admit to it, but he had been. And he was pretty annoyed that Phantasos had managed to figure it out first.

He was even more annoyed when he showed up to Hybris' hide out to find Phantasos waiting for him. Not only was the little dream god going to come along for the ride even though Hermes had said no, Phantasos had gotten there first.

Hermes arched his brow at Phantasos, but he just beckoned him to follow, descending into the building. He could feel immortals nearby, and he found Hybris in the basement, beside a very heavily injured Patroclus and some mortal. Hybris' head snapped up when she heard footsteps approaching, and she dropped the knife she'd been slicing into Patroclus with. It clattered to the floor and Patroclus' head fell backwards with a groan.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Hybris hissed at Hermes as the god approached her. "Get the fuck out of here, get your own prisoners!"

Hermes didn't even bother to address her, he just strode over to her, grabbed her by the hair, and snapped her neck. Hybris fell to the floor in a heap and Phantasos slipped by her, trying to avoid looking at his sister. Instead he focused on Jesse.

The pair were no longer chained to the roof, though their shoulders were red and swollen from the time they had spent suspended. They were tied to a chairs, and Phantasos grabbed Hybris' knife so he could cut Jesse's bonds. "It's okay," he whispered to the mortal. "We're getting you out, okay? Just stick with me."

Jesse had gone numb not long after their botched escape attempt. He'd shut down and withdrawn into himself, and now, whenever Hybris or one of her siblings hurt him, it only sort of registered. Just something else to be dealt with later.

He could hear voices, a wet snap, and the sound of a body hitting the floor. He glanced over to see Hybris, with her neck at an odd angle. But the only thing he could summon up was a vague feeling of, 'Oh. That's interesting.'

And then someone was talking to him, and he pulled himself back to consciousness long enough to process what they were saying. He let out a laugh that was more of a croak than anything. "I've heard that before," he rasped.

"I know, I know," Phantasos hissed as he sliced through the ropes binding Jesse tightly to the chair. Gosh there were a lot of them. "That was my sister. Who tried to help? She told me where to find you. Do you think you can stand?"

Before Jesse had a chance to answer, Hermes had removed Patroclus' bonds, but instead of letting Hermes help him, the tortured warrior had let out a yelp of protest. Patroclus then pushed Hermes away, sending himself spilling to the ground.

"Oh shit," like a shot, Phantasos was kneeling beside Patroclus. "It's okay, I'm a friend of Roxy's! Remember? Hermes, why don't you help Jesse, hmm?"

Hermes, grumbling about soldiers who didn't let things go, stepped over to Jesse and he peered down at him. "I can carry you?" he suggested.

Jesse bristled at the thought of being carried like a child, but when he tried to stand, his legs wouldn't hold his weight. One shook so badly that his leg gave out, and he collapsed back into the chair. "Maybe you'd better," he sighed, looking up at Hermes. "Because I don't think I can walk."

"We're going to get you both to a hospital," Phantasos said, helping Patroclus up. The warrior wasn't in great shape either, but at least he could stand. He could probably hobble to the car.

Hermes scooped Jesse up like a bride and carried him towards the door. "Sometimes it's better not to walk," Hermes said, showing incredible kindness. He had been tortured by Lucifer not that long ago and he remembered how it felt. "And it's brave to know when that is."

"For real this time?" Jesse slurred, his head resting on Hermes' chest. "Because last time didn't end so well."

Jesse let out his croaking laugh again. "Can't damage my legs any further," he rasped. "They're fucked up enough already."

"For real this time," Hermes nodded, carrying Jesse all the way to the car. He helped load Jesse into the backseat of his car, and then Patroclus was helped in as well.

"I'll drive, you call their people," Hermes ordered Phantasos, who nodded and started dialling the second the car was in gear.

Hermes pulled up to the hospital, right in the emergency loading zone. Phantasos ran to get help and very shortly both men were whisked off to the ER. Phantasos took a seat in the waiting room to meet the people coming to be with them. Hermes waited too, though he chose to pace around instead of sit.

When Roxanna got the call, she almost collapsed from relief and apprehension. After taking three tries to lace up her boots, Jamie knelt down and laced them for her. "Come on, Roxie," he said, grabbing the car keys from their hook. "I'll drive you. You don't have to do this by yourself."

Jamie drove them to the hospital, while Roxanna maintained a whiteknuckled grip on the dashboard. The two of them blew in through the door, looking around until they found Phantasos. "What's going on?" she asked, breathless, not even noticing that Hermes was there. She was imagining the worst.

Phantasos jumped up when Roxanna got there, his arms out to hug her. "He's going to be okay," he reassured him. "They both are. They have a lot of healing to do, but they're okay."

JJ arrived shortly after Roxanna, dragging Nicholas with her. Joey walked behind them, Bastian in tow. "Where's Jesse," she breathed to Phantasos.

"They're in the back, but the doctor said we could see them soon."

"I'm going to murder that little shit," JJ growled.

"Too late," Hermes supplied.

Roxanna sagged in his arms, then jumped when she heard Hermes' voice. She spun to face him, tears starting to form in her eyes. "I wanted to do it myself, but fuck it, I'm just glad someone did."

And then she did something she had never done before. She stepped forward and pulled Hermes into quick hug, whispering, "Thank you," in his ear. She stepped back, swiped at her eyes, and asked Phantasos, "Did they say when we could go back?"

Hermes, shocked that Roxanna had hugged him, just kind of patted her back. When she pulled away, he adjusted his jacket and looked a little surprised.

"They didn't give a time, but not long," Phantasos said, chewing on his lip.

Before long, a nurse came to fetch them, ushering the group to the room Patroclus and Jesse now shared.

Patroclus was reclined on his bed, various tubes and wires attached to him. He felt absolutely horrible and the bandages all over his body told the story of the hell he had been through. At least he was safe here. He had started to think he would never be safe again.

Jesse, lying in the bed next to him, didn't look or feel much better. The leg that had given out when he tried to stand had been x-rayed, and as he'd feared, it was broken. He had a catalog of other injuries all over his body, and even trying to use his shoulders at all made him want to cry. They'd given him something for the pain, and it had taken the edge off, but he still felt achy all over, and numb to his bones. The nurses kept saying shock, and he'd probably agree, once he processed everything.

Roxanna rushed over to Patroclus, dropping into the chair next to his bed. "Oh my god," she said, her voice cracking on the last word. "I'm going to kill that fucking bitch again."

Patroclus turned to look at Roxanna and smiled lightly at her. God it was good to see her. "I love you," he said, instead of a greeting. It felt important to say. He had spent days just wishing he could see her face again. Now she was here and it was the best.

JJ rushed in, ushering Nicholas into a chair because she knew he was still weak. "Oh, baby," she said, her voice full of lament. "Oh, Jesse-"

"Missed you," Nicholas said, much less openly upset than JJ. He was clearly struggling to hold it together so he could be the strong one for them. Joey moved inside the door, Bastian in his arms.

"Hey," he said softly to Jesse. "Bastian wants to see you."

"I love you too," she replied, her voice thick with tears again. "I'm so glad you're here now, and not...there anymore."

Jesse shifted as much as he could, to better see all of them. He managed a very small smile for them, because even moving his face muscles seemed to hurt. "I missed y'all too," he said, his voice still raspy and hoarse. He looked over at Joey. "Can you bring him here?" he asked. "I can't really lift my arms."

Patroclus couldn't reach out for Roxanna's hand so instead he asked, "will you hold my hand? Careful. I just...I want to touch you." Behind them, Phantasos gently wrapped an arm around Jamie to support him.

"Of course," Joey said, stepping forward so Jesse could see his son. "I've been there, man. Sucks." He leaned down and placed Bastian on the bed beside Jesse, keeping an eye on the infant.

"I am putting tracking chips in all of you," JJ hissed at her boys.

"Yes, of course," she said, lightly taking his hand. "I missed you. Missed you so fucking much."

Jesse looked down at Bastian, some joy finally coming onto his face at the sight of his son. "Hey little man," he said, stretching out on of his fingers. His smile widened slightly as Bastian grasped it. "Thought about you every day. I knew I had to make it back for you. And for your momma and Nicky."

"We're chipping the whole damn house," he said, and he was only joking a little bit. "I'll even help you find a vein."

"Hey I won't even complain about being lojacked," Nicholas said seriously. "Especially if it means we're all easier to find."

"Damn right," JJ leaned down, rubbing Bastian's belly. He cooed loudly and She smiled gently at him. "I'm so glad you did make it back for us," she told Jesse.

Patroclus turned to look at Nicolas, frowning. "I'm sorry, Nicky. I didn't know she was going to come after me. And I'm sorry Jesse got caught up in the middle of it."

Nicholas turned to his friend and he shook his head. "It's not your fault, Pat."

"Me too," Jesse agreed, sliding his hand along the bed until it reached hers. "That was what kept me going. That, and just...locking everything away in the back of my mind. Survive now, feel it later."

"Hey, Pat, no," he said, turning his head toward the other bed. "You couldn't possibly have known she was coming to the club that day. It's so not your fault, OK? It's really not."

Patroclus was going to feel guilty for a very long time, despite what everyone was saying, but he resolved to keep that to himself. "I tried to keep the attention off him. Tried to make them let him go."

"Pat, that bitch has a screw loose, okay?" Nicholas sighed. "Hopefully she'll realise coming after us is useless and she'll keep to herself."

"If she doesn't, I'll snap her neck again," Hermes finally spoke up from the corner.

Patroclus spotted him and stiffened, his eyes widening. "Heh."

"It almost worked, too," Jesse agreed. "One of them wasn't completely awful. She gave me water and tried to get me out. The crazy bitch found us instead."

"Several screws," he confirmed. "She's creative in that demented way that serial killers are."

"I want a crack at her," Roxanna muttered darkly from her spot next to Patroclus. "I said I would, and I like to keep my promises."

"Don't go anywhere near her," Patroclus warned Roxanna. "She's- She's horrible."

"We'll have to find out who she is and thank her," JJ mused.

"Philotes," Phantasos spoke up. "My sister, Philotes. She's also the one who told me where to find them. She did what she could."

"I'm going to knit her a fuckin sweater or something," JJ grumbled. "You hungry, babe? I can get you something from the cafe?" she asked Jesse. "Your brothers are on their way. Your mom too. Might do well to get your strength up?"

Roxanna muttered a few dark things in French under her breath, but eventually she settled and sighed, dropping her head forward and collecting herself.

"Pat and her were the only good things in that place," Jesse said. "So yeah. I'd like to thank her. And yeah, I could probably eat something. I didn't really register til you said anything, but I'm starving."

"I imagine so," JJ said, her voice soothing. "I'll grab everyone something, be right back." She slipped out the door, Hermes trailing after her to help carry.

"Right back at you," Patroclus said to Jesse, with feeling. The experience had been terrible and Patroclus had wished Jesse wasn't stuck there with him, but being alone would have been worse. They could try to keep each others' spirits up and that wasn't nothing.

He ran his fingers gently through Roxanna's hair, trying to calm her.

Jayden let the Delacroix crew through the door, and the moment he caught sight of Jesse, he burst into tears. "Jesse! Oh my god! Oh my god, I thought you were-"

Adrian pulled Jayden into a hug, but he gave Jesse a sad smile. "Hey, bro."

Upon seeing his entire family spill through the door, Jesse felt both cheered up, and a little overwhelmed. So he did what he always did-worry about his brothers first.

"Hey Jay, don't cry," he said, trying to calm his brother down. "I'm-well, I'm not OK, but I'm definitely not dead. So that's good, right?" He gave Adrian a small smile. "Hey, Ade. Thanks for coming."

"Not good when you're lying in a hospital bed, all banged up," Ceridwen answered, gently making her way through her sons. "Oh, cheri. I'm half-tempted to lock all of you in my house. That way I could look out for you."

"JJ's going to chip us," Jesse told her, smiling tiredly.

"Good," she said, nodding firmly, though her chin was trembling.

"Don't cry, maman, please, or y'all will set me off," he said.

"We were so worried," she told him. "I don't think any of us have hardly slept."

"I didn't sleep," Jayden sniffled, "not at all. I was so worried. I want JJ to chip me too, I don't want to get kidnapped again." Adrian just held Jayden close and silently agreed.

Nicholas rose, shakily, from the chair. "Come on, lets let Jesse have some time with mom," he said to the brothers. "JJ is down in the cafe, we can meet her and get you all something too."

Joey smiled and pointed to Bastian, "you want to watch over Bastian here, and I'll go with them?" he offered to Ceridwen.

"Yes please, thank you, Joey," Cerdiwen replied. She settled next to Bastian as the rest of them filed out of the room, and it was only then that she started to cry.

Bastian seemed to sense that she was distressed and started to fuss too, and Ceridwen scooped him up and began rocking him. "Shh, shh," she soothed him. "I'm sorry, cheri." She wasn't sure who she apologizing too, Jesse or Bastian.

"Mama," Jesse said. "Mama, please, please don't cry."

"I can't help it," she replied, sniffling. "One of my babies was hurt, and yet again, I didn't know, and when I did, I couldn't help. It is the worst feeling in the world for a mother."

"It wasn't your fault," Jesse told her. "It's no one's fault but that crazy bitch's. I'm here now. I'll heal up and I'll go home, and things will slowly get back to normal."

She nodded, but didn't speak. So Jesse asked, "Could you...could you put Bastian up here? I can't really lift my arms, but they still bend alright at the elbow. I've really missed holding him."

"Of course, sweetheart," she said, rising and arranging Bastian in the loose circle of Jesse's arms.

"Hey, big man," he said, running his hand over Bastian's back. "You're OK. And I will be too, eventually. I promise."
