Constanze watched him quietly, feeling conflicted in whether to stay or leave. She knew being there wasn't helping him, but at the same time he needed her. He wanted her to stay, so she wouldn't leave just yet. She shushed quietly and stroked his hair. "I'll say for a little while," she spoke in a calm, quiet voice.
After about a minute she spoke again, continuing to stroke his hair, "I need to say something that might be difficult for you to hear." She had seen how badly he had taken them breaking up, but it still needed to be said. Constanze had always been honest with him. She had never felt shy about telling him what was on her mind. "When I broke things off it was because you were already with Euterpe before I had ever showed up. We were together for such a short time that I knew if I didn't break it off then it would be that much harder later on. I hadn't fallen back in love with you then." She paused there for a moment, because it was difficult for her to comprehend those words. "I've moved on more than once since our respective deaths and rebirths. It's time you move on, too." Her voice was unwavering, but Constanze still felt her heart shattering into a million pieces. She didn't know if this would help him, or make him worse.
