Who: Norah and NPCs Devon and Adam [Narrative]
When: Friday evening, shortly after work
Where: Norah's work
What: Jealous boyfriend
Warnings: Violence
The day had been quite ordinary for Norah. It had been like any other day, except that when work ended she found an irritated Devon in the hallway right outside of the room.
"What's wrong?" she asked, concerned.
Devon made no attempts at hiding his anger when he turned on Norah, "I saw the way you look at him when you're dancing-"
"What are you-?"
"The way you look at him," he said louder and more slowly as though Norah was slow.
"What on earth are you talking about? It's dancing. It's all an act. There are no real emotions." Okay, that wasn't entirely true, but she really didn't need him thinking she had feelings for her dance partner.
Devon looked more angry now than just irritated, "I don't want you dancing with him anymore. Either you go solo or you find a different guy who doesn't look like him." He pointed to Adam just as he walked out the door.
Adam looked bewildered. "Everything alright?" He asked innocently, concerned about the scene before him.
Devon now turned his anger to Adam, getting right up in his face and looking like he was ready to take him down. "No, everything's not alright! I don't like the way you touch her. I don't like the way you look at her. Back off or I'll break your legs," he warned as he pushed Adam.
Well, that escalated quickly.
Norah shouted in protest, "Oi! Stop it!" She approached the two quickly, trying to get between them, and instead was pushed to the floor by Devon.
"Hey!" Adam yelled out when he witnessed that act of asshattery. "What the hell? How dare you-"
He didn't get to finish his sentence as Devon tackled him right there in the hallway with the rest of Norah's co-workers watching in horror.
No amount of yelling, or attempts from some of the other men could tear them apart form each other. Norah stood with one of the other girls, who held onto Norah as though she was afraid she might be ripped out of her arms, while Norah stood there helplessly.
After a few minutes security arrived and broke up the fight, and Norah was able to breathe again. She watched as the two were escorted out of the building, following close behind and feeling incredibly embarrassed. They told Devon he was no longer allowed in the building and if they found him there again they would call the police. Adam received a warning, since he worked there.
Norah waited until Adam had turned the corner before approaching Devon. "Why?"
Devon just glared down the street in the direction Adam had gone. "Let's go," he said in a low voice. They had both been bloodied and bruised. Devon had received a well-deserved black eye and a bloody, fat lip. Norah simply walked with him to her apartment, where they parted ways.
