Who: Jared and Morphine
What: Jared's out and about during this blackout and runs into the wrong kind of people.
Where: New York City streets
Warnings: None yet

Jared had yet to piece himself back together since the bridge episode with Alice and Digger. Part of him didn't really know how grateful he was to still be alive. He was agitated that he hadn't actually gone through with anything in his life---even a move that could have ended all of it. He didn't like thinking about it, doing anything, it was just this constant voice in his head telling him how unimportant and worthless he was. Alice could give him all the pep talks she wanted, even tell him he was important in this place, but his mind was not yet healed, and this would be another struggle he was going to have to wade through. Right now, on his own, he was considered a threat to himself. The only good thing about being in the hospital a few times since was that it gave him a place to sleep for the night.

He was wondering down the littered streets when the lights went out and everything was pitch black. He heard the screech of traffic and horns, and the crunch of metal against metal. He turned the corner down the alley to try and see if there was anywhere that had any electricity as he used the flashlight off his phone for direction. He still managed to stumble over some boxes and trash outside behind the buildings, twisting his ankle on the curb and falling back over. "Shit!" his phone crashed onto the pavement cracking the screen and killing the light. He tried to stand, but immediately felt the blood rush to his ankle and swell. He fumbled around for his phone, but ended up just sitting down on the dirty street trying to turn his phone back on, but he realized quickly that he'd crushed it in the fall.
