Who: Gabriel and [OPEN]
When: Saturday night, about 7 PM
Where: The Bell House concert venue in Brooklyn
What: Not playing a show
Warnings: Probably none

Gabriel had hardly noticed when the power went out on Friday. He hadn't turned on any of the lights in his apartment during the daytime and his cell phone had been fully charged, so when he left the apartment for the venue on Saturday, he didn't think twice. When he'd arrived at the venue, his guitarist was arguing with the venue owner outside the equipment loading zone. "What do you mean we can't play?" Gabriel overheard the guitarist, Dylan, sounding pretty irritated as he walked up. "Gabe, apparently there's still no electricity. Anywhere. So we can't play tonight." Dylan had most of his equipment sitting outside the door. The other two band members were waiting in the bed of a truck next to their instrument cases.

"No electricity anywhere? Do you think it's going to come back on anytime soon?" Gabriel asked the venue owner, who politely explained that due to the outage, they were simply cancelling all shows for the evening. Gabriel had been looking forward to playing tonight and had even spread out some flyers through out the week hoping to see some familiar faces. Looked like that wasn't going to happen.

The boys packed up their gear, said some parting farewells to another band they knew that was supposed to play that evening as well, and headed their separate ways. The three other guys had driven together, but Gabriel preferred to walk or take a bus. He'd heard them say there was no electricity anywhere, but with the sun still out, it was hard to tell. He was sure that some place in New York had to have power. He took off from the venue hoping to find a coffee shop or even a brewery of some sort, and soon began to realize the electricity issue spanned much farther out than just the venue...
