Honos hated putting together funerals. Aurelia's had indeed been the last one he'd had to do, but the feeling associated with it was something he'd never be able to completely forget. So when he and Libera had parted ways, he'd gone west and lived near the mountains for a few decades. He'd spent the first few months in mourning, but eventually, he'd come back to civilization and started crafting a new life for himself. He'd done for the best for himself that he could. He had still loved Libera, but perhaps it was for the best that they'd spent that time apart.
But now, as it was then, it was hard for him to deny her, so he closed the small distance between them and kissed her. Anything to not think about what was surely coming later that day.
