Libera listened from the window, her back to them, but she smiled just a little when she remembered how many times Honos had gone tumbling on that trip. She'd completely forgotten.
When Honos finished speaking, she slowly turned around again to watch them both there, like a scene from a movie. Then she dragged another chair over from the corner of the room so she could sit with him as well. She didn't know what else to say though, she she told Mary about Aurelia instead, about what her mother had been like when they'd been all living together, before the twins had come along. Without Honos and Libera, there would have been no one to tell Mary those kinds of stories.
She told Mary about Aurelia's school plays, about Honos teaching her to read, about comforting her over her first boyfriend cheating on her. She let Honos join in these stories with details every now and then, let him take over and talk about other things.
Mid-morning turned into afternoon turned into evening and Libera curled herself up in the chair and closed her eyes to listen to Honos instead. She length of the trip was beginning to weigh on her and she was exhausted. She didn't even realise when she fell asleep.
