Who: Odysseus and Penelope
When: Monday night
What: Things always go south for Odysseus and Penelope
Where: Cruise ship
Odysseus was no stranger to the odd and bizarre. He'd escaped more than once death defying acts, monsters and being stranded on an island. He'd thought for once instead of sending other people on cruises that he'd actually attempt to get on a boat himself. That had been a mistake from the second he left. Argos had nearly escaped the kennel he'd taken him to which made him late for the ship's departure. All that money spent to watch his boat sail away without him. He had to fly to the next docking point in order to get on the ship, and by that time the airline had lost his luggage. As if that wasn't enough, the sink in his room sprung a leak, so he was ankle deep in water by the time he woke up from a nap. Getting his room switched around was as much of a nightmare as it was getting to the damn boat! Halfway through the cruise he was ready to just jump ship, but Odysseus saw things through to the very end. At least he still had his wallet (though one of his credit cards had gotten hacked and he had to cancel that in the middle of dinner) and find another way to pay for his meal.
He was relaxing on one of the deck chairs that night, looking up at the stars with the t-shirt he'd managed to buy at one of the many shops located on their ship. It wasn't the most preferable of choices, and neither were the loafers with no socks, but he was living off of very little luggage at this point, just bits and pieces picked up along the way. With his arms behind his head he whistled a little tune and connected the dots of the stars up above. It was a beautiful night, Orion was clearly visible.
Through all of the ordeals, he'd hardly caught on to another immortal that he'd managed to bypass at every turn without even meaning to. It was as if fate had wanted to keep them apart, something that they'd dealt with many times over the centuries. Each time his face changed, so it never made their meetings any easier, in fact it made them even harder. Odysseus didn't get the feelings most did when other immortals were around, at least not that particular one. Their time together seem to stretch for longer periods with each encounter. This one would be no different.
