Jesse just shook his head. "It's not your fault, cher," he said, sighing. "Believe me, I know all about being a constant disappointment to your father. Some people, you just can't please. Ever." He leaned in to kiss Nicholas on the cheek. "I'm going to put a shirt on and dry my hair, and try and salvage a decent impression with your mother, at least."
He headed upstairs to quickly blow dry his hair, then pulled on a shirt and headed back down to the kitchen. He took a seat next to JJ, content to keep quiet for the moment and maybe just have some tea.
